Poetry, Past Tense

Memories between dreams
and breakfast
Sun-filled mug and steamy blanket
Leave the harried week behind

Aromatist, scent of smoking change

An anonymous announcement of gratitude
for the smallest things in life.
Fleeting transitions from which lingers only the scent of smoking.

My Brother

Climbing out of a hole,
mud-stained hands and tear-stained cheeks
only to become elated, fulfilled
Until the boot hits, and the top becomes
the ravine.
